Samsung Galaxy S7 vs LG G5: Android's Two BIGGEST Flagships Are COMING

We're coming up to MWC 2016 and we know what that means; a bunch of new Android handsets will be entering the fray and vying for the contents of your wallet. However, we also know that Samsung, in typical fashion, will launch its new flagship(s), the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 EDGE, just prior to the event. In fact the firm's Samsung Unpacked 2016 event has now been officially confirmed for February 21, proving such suspicions correct.
But it’s not just the Samsung Galaxy S7 that’s coming in 2016 from Samsung. The company’sGalaxy Note 6 will also return later this year, following disappointing sales of the Galaxy S6 EDGE+ last year, which launched in the UK at the expense of the Galaxy Note 5. In 2016, however, Samsung is doing a complete 180ยบ — it will release the Galaxy Note 6 in the UK, but not the Galaxy S7 EDGE+. So, whoever made that decision last time around appears to have sobered up and started thinking straight again.
Never one to be outdone and on something of a hot streak of late, LG is looking to best Samsung at its own game and has also confirmed it will be launching its 2016 flagship, the LG G5, on the very same day in Barcelona. How’s that for some competitive fighting sprit!?
Both firms have a lot riding on this year’s flagship releases, though we’d argue Samsung — the one great leader of the phone space — has more to lose than LG, which has only very recently started to find its form again. LG has stated that it is ready to go head-to-head with Samsung in 2016, though, implying it is VERY confident with what its bringing to market in a few short weeks.
So with that in mind, we thought we'd take a preliminary look at how these handsets stack up against each other ahead of their respective launches. Naturally, this is all based on the current rumours doing the rounds, so can't be taken as gospel, but there's enough reasonably accurate-sounding and repeatedly mentioned rumours that we have a good idea of what a Galaxy S7 and LG G5 mock-up battle will look like. Anyway, without further ado...

Samsung Galaxy S7 vs LG G5: Design

At this stage we've seen quite a lot of leaked details and images regarding the Galaxy S7, including official press renders, so we pretty much know what the score is here. Rumours have been saying for a while it'll be quite similar to the Galaxy S6, and it appears this is largely true with a broadly similar shape and proportions, as well as the glass panels with a metal surround. Of course there will be more than one variant, including the Galaxy S7 edge with its curved display
